Tree-topping fundraiser for East Cheshire Hospice

  • Posted

Stephen Woodall, Partner and Head of Commercial at FDR Law, is urging Cheshire residents to take part in this year’s award-winning Christmas Tree Collection, a lifeline for the East Cheshire Hospice.  Now in its 17th year, the charity raises a quarter of its revenue through its annual Christmas Tree Collection and recycling service which ensures the continued care for people suffering from life-limiting illnesses.

Since 2001, the Christmas Tree Collection has raised more than £678,000. Last January, the 16th annual Christmas Tree Collection saw over 69 tonnes of Christmas Trees responsibly recycled, raising over £102,000. Consequently, the East Cheshire Hospice Christmas Tree Collection has been honoured with the prestigious Queen's Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award given to local volunteer groups across the UK to recognise outstanding work in their communities.

“It is a simple idea which works on the principle of "save all that mess in your car by having your Christmas Tree collected in return for a small donation". You book in with us and we will collect and recycle your old tree and collect your donation to the Hospice,” explained Stephen Woodall, who helps to coordinate the event.

“This year’s collection will take place on Saturday, 14th January and Sunday, 15th January and we hope to topple the amount donated in previous years. With hundreds of registrations coming in already, we are hoping for another bumper year!”

The Christmas Tree Collection operates in Alderley Edge, Bollington, Chelford, Congleton, Disley, Handforth, Knutsford, Macclesfield, Mobberley, Poynton, Prestbury, Styal, Wilmslow and surrounding areas.
