Natalie Fletcher, a 25-year-old legal executive at FDR Law’s Frodsham office, has just been made a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.
She works within the litigation department and is able to help clients with a wide range of legal issues including personal injury claims, debt recovery, will disputes and child maintenance problems.
Natalie, who lives in Beechwood, Runcorn, and is a former pupil of the Heath High School, joined the Cheshire legal firm in 2007 aged 18, straight after A’ levels. Initially employed as a legal clerk, she was encouraged by the firm to progress her career by gaining legal qualifications.
For the last four years, she has travelled to colleges in either Chester or Liverpool, up to two nights a week after a full day at work, to further her studies. At the same time she was gaining practical experience of litigation work with FDR partner Stephen Lawson and court work with the firm’s Family Department.
Now after passing various exams, her hard work has been rewarded by a fellowship which effectively gives her the same legal status as a solicitor.
She said: “I am incredibly grateful to everyone at FDR Law who have helped and supported me. Stephen Lawson in particular has been a great source of support and inspiration since I first started here as an 18-year-old, fresh out of college.
“Looking back, I can’t believe how much I used to cram into my days. It was completely exhausting to fit in all the classes, extra study, coursework and studying for exams, as well as working a full time job. However it was so worthwhile and I am delighted to finally gain the qualification.”
Stephen Lawson, head of the firm’s Litigation Department, said the fellowship was external validation of her legal expertise. “Many people on this same learning journey fall by the wayside and it is to Natalie’s great credit that she has achieved this success. Clients can seek her advice confident in the knowledge that she holds a nationally-recognised qualification.”
