New Head of Family at FDR Law

  • Posted

Family law specialist Jennifer Roulston has just been appointed to take over as Head of the Family Department at FDR Law.

Jennifer, who is based at the firm’s Stockton Heath office, is an expert in all aspects of family law and specialises in pre-nuptial agreements, divorce, separation and financial settlements, including advice on business and pension matters.

Over the years she has been involved in a number of high profile family law cases and is a former Law Society Gazette ‘Lawyer of the Week’.

In 2012 she hit the national headlines with a battle to establish paternity rights for her client, young Warrington mum Emma Hickman, whose soldier fiancé was killed in a Taliban attack while serving in Afghanistan. Together they worked with local MP David Mowat and Prime Minister David Cameron to change MoD procedure for collecting soldiers’ DNA, which in future will help other women prove paternity if an unborn baby’s father dies on active service.

Jennifer is one of the few recommended lawyers listed on the panel of Reunite International which was established to deal with international child abduction and the movement of children across international borders.

She joined FDR Law in 2006 after practising on the Fylde Coast for several years and was made a partner in 2009. She gained a law degree from Hull University and her post-graduate solicitor qualification from Chester College of Law. Jennifer is also a member of Resolution and the Warrington Veteran Family Liaison Board.

Commenting on her promotion, Jennifer said: “I am delighted to be appointed head of FDR Law’s Family Department. We have a strong team of ten staff all devoted to providing clients with a first class, personal service. Most of us are members of Resolution and within the department, we offer a range of expertise in a number of legal areas including the safeguarding of children, civil partnerships, co-habiting partners and international family relationships"
