Flexible Working Rights extended to all employees

  • Posted

From the 30th June 2014 there is an extension of rights for employees in the realm of Employment Law.

The right to request flexible working (which was previously reserved for carers and those with children under the age of 17) has now been extended to all employees with more than six months of service.

Employers will now be obliged to consider requests ‘reasonably’ and in line with the time frames set out by statute.  Failure to comply with the statutory obligations will give rise to unwelcome claims against employers.
