On supporting the launch of the 100 Club, the Foundation for Peace’s latest fund-raising initiative. In times of economic problems charities such as the Foundation are often overlooked as businesses concentrate on their own financial issues.

But it was wonderful to see local companies supporting the 100 Club launch and I hope others, having realised the long-term benefits the Foundation achieves – are able to follow their lead.

We at Forshaws Davies Ridgway were delighted to pledge our support as one of the founding members of the 100 Club, alongside that of actress Emma Thompson, a long-time supporter of the Foundation’s work.

The Foundation, based at Warrington Peace Centre has been conducting vital work since being established after the IRA’s bomb attack on the town in 1993. Since then thousands of young people have benefited from the centre’s educational courses which tackle prejudice, discrimination and violence across the UK.

It’s a legacy the town of Warrington should be proud of and one we must all try hard to maintain.
